Patient Accommodation
Kids Cancer Research Trust has patient accommodation available to assist patients and / or their families needing a place to stay whilst receiving oncology treatment.
This is a joint initiative between the Kids Cancer Research Trust and its affiliates Cancer & Bowel Research Trust and Breast Cancer Australia.
There are numerous residences throughout Australia, all in close proximity to metropolitan hospitals in Queensland, New South Wales, ACT and Victoria.
Each residence has two to three bedrooms and is available for up to six persons to stay any given time. The duration of the stay may range from short term (one to three weeks) to long term (one month to half a year).
The maintenance and ongoing servicing of the patient accommodation will be run by the Kids Cancer Research Trust and volunteers as well as staff of the metropolitan hospitals affiliated with the residences.
Our aim in presenting the properties is to provide a dignified, private and relaxed accommodation environment for the family and patient during their particular treatment time.
Details of our accommodation properties are as follows:
The Playhouse "...a gorgeous, relaxing apartment..."
The Playhouse is ideally located at Unit 10/65-71 Beamish Rd, Northmead. This spacious and comfortable apartment has two bedrooms,

accommodate children suffering from cancer who require a tiled, isloated environment during treatment to reduce the chance of infection.
The accommodation is fully self contained.

"No words seem adequate to say how fortunate we have been to have
Unit 10 as our home base for so long. The traumatic highs and
lows of this roller coaster ride have been eased dramatically.
We, as a family, shall forever remember this time. It has
impacted on our lives in the most positive of ways. We thank you
so very, very much for making one of the worst times less
stressful. You do a tremendous job and we hope you will continue
to strive, as families need you."
Ruth Little, Mooreland.

 Chris and Charlize Nebenfuehr
"My husband Chris and I have stayed at the Parkview apartment on two occasions with our 2 year old daughter Charlize, who has a rare childhood cancer. Each of these stays has been during highly stressful treatments and I cannot tell you how great it is to be able to come back to the Parkview apartment after another long day at the hospital and to be able to unwind, as well as have some much needed privacy and family time, which sadly like for many families is often rare these days".
"We would like to thank the Kids Cancer Research Trust for allowing us and other families the opportunity to be able to stay in such a lovely apartment, which not only allows us valuable family time together, but is also located directly across from parklands which we take full advantage of when we can. We also look forward to the time when Charlize is well enough for us to take her to the Melbourne Zoo which is only a five minute walk away!" Karen Nebenfuehr, Bendigo.

"Thank God for Hopegood Place, it is so close to the hospital and really gives us a feeling of home away from home. I couldn't continue to go through this treatment if I wasn't able to escape the hospital and relax at Hopegood Place."
