Our commitment to Privacy

Kids Cancer Research Trust understands the importance of protecting each individual's right to privacy. We are bound by, and commit ourselves to, compliance with the provisions relating to privacy and to collection, use and disclosure of personal information set out in;-

1. The Privacy Act 1988
2. The National Privacy Principles set out in Schedule 3 to that Act

Why we collect personal information and what we use it for

We have a number of reasons for which we may obtain your personal information, including:

• Survey or research work
• Records of any donations you have made and receipts we have sent
• To provide information about our services and programs
• Details of those who have used our services

How and when we collect personal information

This information may be collected through face-to-face interactions, telephone conversations or through electronic communication. We may have obtained this information via:

• Fundraising programs, including events that may have been run by members of the public with proceeds benefiting Kids Cancer Research Trust
• Use of our services or facilities
• When you purchase a product or submit a grant application
• If you take part in a survey or research project
• Employment opportunities

This information may then be used for a number of reasons, including:

• To seek your support for our programs
• To contact you about similar services or programs in the future
• To maintain financial records relating to donations
• To invite you to special events or inform you of our progress and achievements

We won't use your information for any reason beyond that for which we first obtained it unless it's reasonable to expect the information would be used for such a purpose, you agreed that we could use it, or it isn't sensitive information and we are using it for our marketing purposes. Should you prefer not to receive any further information from Kids Cancer Research Trust, please inform us.

When personal information is not collected by the Trust

Please note that for instantaneous donations where you have made a small donation and either received a pre-printed receipt immediately, or refused a receipt, no information is obtained.

Security - keeping your personal information secure

All personal information is kept secure. Physical data is kept in a secure location to which only authorised Management has access and electronic data is protected by passwords and other access restrictions.

Access to personal information to a third party

We will only provide personal information to a third party when we are required to do so by law, in the interests of your health or safety, or with your consent.

Destruction of personal information

Once information is no longer needed, it is all securely destroyed.

At any time, you are welcome to contact us to find out what information we may have relating to you. If for any reason we're unable to provide you with this, we will let you know why. If you know that any of our information is incorrect, please let us know and we will update our records immediately.

Complaints

Any complaint made to the Kids Cancer Research Trust, or to an officer or employee of the Trust other than the privacy officer, that is related to privacy or to our use of personal information is to be referred forthwith to the privacy officer. Any person dissatisfied with the handling of a complaint by the privacy officer may make a written request to the Board of the Kids Cancer Research Trust to have the handling of the complaint reviewed.
